Default University of Nottingham PhD Positions

University of Nottingham PhD Positions

The Human Factors Group at University of Nottingham (which includes the IOE and VIRART) is likely to have funded PhD positions available during this year. These are principally to work in the area of the understanding, modelling, analysis and evaluation of collaboration, collaborative work groups and collaborative work spaces, for co-located groups and treams distributed by time and/or space. Another potential area for research is in the understanding and representation of peoples' conceptual and mental models when designing, whether individually or in distributed and co-located teams.

Any such PhD positions would be for three years and would be funded from potential new European projects (STREPs and IPs) which will start during this year. The PhDs would suit candidates who already have a first degree in one of Social Science, Psychology or Human Factors/Ergonomics.

The funding available to successful candidates would cover all of their fees and the current enhanced maintenance and living costs award; in addition travel and equipment required for the projects, on which there are a number of European partners, and to conferences etc, would be funded from project expenses.

More details will be sent out in the next couple of months but in the meantime, if you might be interested in receiving further details, please mail - in confidence - John.Wilson@nottingham.ac.uk
