3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE VIRTUAL CITY AND TERRITORY
October, 25th, 26th and 27th of 2006
Bilbao (Spain)

Conference Overview

The “3rd International Conference on the Virtual City and Territory” will take place in Bilbao (Spain). This conference follows the track started by the 1st Conference in Barcelona (Spain) (http://www-cpsv.upc.es/ctv ) and the 2nd Conference in Concepción (Chile) (http://www.ubiobio.cl/2ctv ).

This event is organized by Fundación LABEIN-Tecnalia. The conference will focus on the most recent technological advances in modelling, analysis and urban and territorial planning. It will make possible to share experiences about technical and operational achievements.

Consequently, this congress is oriented to researchers from universities and technological centres as well as to professionals from software companies, services providers, utilities and public bodies.

The conference will be structured according to two axes:

• Current state of the technology and forecasted evolution.
• Application of the technology.

Concerning technologies, the following research areas are suggested:

• Integration of GIS and Virtual Reality technologies.
• Cities and territory modelling techniques.
• Virtual city and territory: Potential and limitations.
• Semantic Data Models in City and Territory.

Concerning the application of these technologies, the following domains are suggested:

• Urban and territorial planning.
• Urban management.
• Environmental management.
• Cultural Heritage
• Tourism
• City marketing
• Security
• Emergencies.
• eParticipation


Call for Papers

Abstracts are to be sent to the Technical Secretariat by email (3ctv@labein.es) in Microsoft Word or Acrobat PDF formats and should not be longer than 1 page.

Abstracts (and papers) can be written in Spanish or English and must be completed with the following information:

• Title of the paper.
• Author’s name(s).
• Unit or department where they are working.
• Their company, university or organization.
• Web site.
• Short description of their organization, web site and main projects.
• Information about the contact person:
o Name
o Postal address.
o eMail address.
o Phone number.
o Fax.

Abstracts will be selected by a group of experts according to their scientific and technical relevance, their innovative character and the author’s background.

Selected papers will be presented during the conference.

Abstracts Reception: April, 15th of 2006.
Papers Selection: May, 30th of 2006.
Final Conference Program: June, 15th of 2006.
Final papers submission: September, 15th of 2006.
Conference dates: October, 25th, 26th and 27th of 2006.


Conference Inscription

The conference inscription fee will be 300 Euros (VAT not included).
